How can you set up your own business, if you don’t have a huge amount of money for startup capital? You start an internet business of course! There are several advantages to doing business in the virtual world and not in the physical world, which every one should know about. These are some of them:

There is no need to have physical store or office, since you can run everything from your home – at least in the beginning. You save on rent, cleaning, power bills and commuting. Possibly on insurance as well. You can take orders and ship products in your underwear if you like. No one will ever know. You can work whenever you like – especially important if you run an online store. Customers can place their orders 24/7, but you can ship them whenever you want.

If I was to start a business today, I would definitely start an internet business. It is by far the cheapest and easiest way of going about it, especially if you sell physical goods. As long as you have enough space for inventory in your home, you really don’t need much else.

But aren’t there advantages to having a physical store or office? Sure – if you can afford a prominent address which is sometimes enough to give you the attention you need to get a good start. But think of the outlay to even afford that for a few months – not to mention the advertising you would still have to do to get anywhere! Add to this the fact that 9 out of 10 new businesses fail, and the traditional way of doing things could become very expensive indeed. There is no doubt that building a home internet business is the way to start – you can always get that storefront in downtown Manhattan later – but then why bother?

Succeeding with an Internet Business is Hard

If you want to succeed with an internet business, then you need to get it in your mind that it’s hard. Just look at the facts. More than 90% of the people who attempt to earn money online fail to do so. With so many advertisements that talk about how easy it is to make money online, it’s not hard to understand why so many people have the type of mentality where they think succeeding online doesn’t require a lot of work. If you want to know what hard work is, start an online business and actually get to a level where you earn enough residual income to not need a job anymore and you will know. It’s definitely not for everyone.

The reason why succeeding online is so hard is because most people aren’t wired up to run their own business. Most of us were taught to work for someone else and with that mindset, many of those who try to run their own business treat it as a job instead of an actual business. By treating it as a job, what I mean is that they do just enough. This is what most people do. They do just enough to not get fired. If you take this approach with your business, you will most likely fail. There is something called competition in the online world and if you don’t have what it takes to beat them, you won’t last very long.

Even though making money online is hard, it’s also possible. If you are willing to put in the work for a long enough period of time, you will eventually start bringing in the money. As long as you go into this game with a determined mindset, you should be okay. Just don’t fall for the trap of thinking you can succeed without doing very much because some program said so. Those programs promise those things because they want people who are lazy to give them money. Avoid that by all cost.
